Spiced Cranberry Compote
Cranberries, sugar, cinnamon, and cayenne make for a comforting and warm spiced winter dessert
ingredients: Add all to shopping list
1 12-oz. bag fresh cranberries
1/2 cup light-brown sugar
2 cups water
1 cinnamon stick
1/2 vanilla bean, split
1 Tbsp orange zest
1/8 tsp cayenne
2 cups low-fat vanilla ice cream 
directions:

In a medium saucepan, add all the compote ingredients and simmer for 20 minutes on medium-low heat. Serve warm spooned over 1/2-cup serving of low-fat vanilla ice cream. The compote is great for so many uses—with turkey and stuffing, in a holiday sundae, or just jarred and given as a gift
