These moist and chewy oatmeal cookies have sweet raisins and crunchy walnuts in every bite.

As the weather gets cooler, I love baking cookies on the weekends. One trick to reducing calories and fat in a recipe is to replace most of the butter with applesauce so you won't feel as guilty eating them. That's exactly what I did with this recipe - it calls for only 2 tablespoons of butter, and the rest is replaced with apple sauce.

I've also substituted pure maple syrup for half of the sugar in the recipe, which gives this cookie the perfect hint of fall. And what a perfect fall cookie this is!
